What Does the Workshop Entail?

Examples of healthy relationship practices are few and far between. From modeling by parents to portrayals of romance in the media, most people grow up with an adversarial model of relationship and conflict management. While it might feel good to "win" an argument in the moment, this approach does not enhance a sense of partnership, and everyone loses in the long run.

Disagreements are inevitable in any intimate relationship - it is how these disagreements are handled that determines whether they cause lasting harm or lead to increased intimacy. Conflict that is handled poorly leads to growing resentment and distance, but conflict that is handled well leads to growth and closeness. This workshop will provide you with concepts and practical tools to understand yourself and your loved ones better. You will learn how to communicate in ways that strengthen intimacy and build a sense of partnership, even during conflict.

Discussions are kept general, and you won’t be required to share personal details. You will be given optional  exercises that give you the chance to put the workshop skills into practice through self-led exercises, helping you to talk through issues with others and strengthen your relationships. These tasks and discussions will guide your personal growth as you take on an active role in building better communication habits.

Who can Attend?

This workshop is open to anyone who wants to learn how to communicate and address conflict collaboratively.
